The screw that we see in the photo is one of the screws that they tried to use to build the double layer dividing wall that took by force a big area of the patio of the property of the Gálvez Chiu family . However this screw refused to be part of it because it has been made to be part of a building where all Cubans could live together.
This could be a good time for each Cuban to meditate and decide. What kind of screw are we or will we be? Which type of building do we want to be a part of? Are we going to be part of a wall that promotes division, confrontation, hate and destruction or are we going to be part of the building which encourages us to live together, in solidarity, peace and uplifting?
Cuba needs no more walls like the one in the Gálvez Chiu house, which was built to destroy a place of peace, creation and harmony. Cuba needs every day more and more screws willing to sustain the building of prosperity and happiness, which will encourage us to live peacefully together.
Although this is an individual decision, it can help to know that it is never too late to stop being a screw of a dividing structure. Just like it happened in the case of the Gálvez Chiu property, when some of the builders who were asked to build the double layer dividing wall, used their freedom and refused to collaborate, conscious of the unfairness of the work to which they’d been summoned.
